World’s First Ski-in/Ski-out Treehouses Open This June

Snow Bear Chalets, the world’s first slopeside, ski-in/ski-out treehouse chalets, opens to guests this June. Located in Northwestern Montana at Whitefish Mountain Resort, Snow Bear Chalets offers the ultimate accommodations to enjoy hiking, mountain biking and outdoor adventure for this summer season, as well as world class alpine skiing for the upcoming 2017-2018 winter season, in a storybook-inspired treehouse chalet.

These brand new luxury treehouses, perched 25 feet above the forest floor, have astounding views into the mountains of nearby Glacier National Park and of the surrounding ski resort. Just five feet from the slope, Snow Bear Chalets offers a true ski-in/ski-out experience for those who would prefer to spend their time on the slopes, rather than just getting to them.

Snow Bear developer Gail Lynne Goodwin modeled this project after Glacier Bear Retreat, which she built four years ago inside the boundaries of nearby Glacier National Park. Like Glacier Bear, the unique treehouses at Snow Bear were designed with swooping beams and soaring turrets, to bring more whimsy into the world.

“At some point in our lives, I think we’ve all dreamed of living in a storybook treehouse. Just because we’re adults doesn’t mean that dream has to end – even if it’s only for a week!” she said.

Each treehouse chalet sleeps from 6 to 10 people and will rent as a weekly vacation rental, offering families the opportunity to come play and create lifelong memories together.

“Life is short and we’re serious far too much. Imagine a place where your inner child can come out to laugh and play with people you love – that’s why we created Snow Bear,” says Goodwin.

“We found the perfect slopeside lot and because it was unzoned, we could have built anything!” Goodwin saw the concept for Snow Bear in her mind, based on her success with Glacier Bear, then hired a draftsman to create the construction drawings for the storybook chalets. “We wanted our guests to feel as if they were in their own storybook home,” which is why they were designed as private treehouses rather than as a hotel.

Each of the treehouse chalets has expansive windows, luxurious Cambria Quartz countertops, Thermador, Bosch, and Vitamix appliances, native wood floors, and a soaring turret complete with 600 fiber-optic stars on the ceiling, in the form of constellations. Outside, each treehouse has a large deck high above the forest floor with an outdoor grill, a dining area with Polywood Outdoor Furniture and a private hot tub.

“There’s nothing like it in the world!” she said.

“With the exponential increase in vacation rentals, we wanted to offer our guests not just a great property in the best location, but a complete, unique experience that they can’t find anywhere else,” said Goodwin. “We want our guests to be so excited to book their next visit before they ever leave the treehouse.”
