College Choice Releases 2017 Ranking of the 35 Best Online Master’s in Teaching

College Choice, a leading authority in college and university rankings and resources, has published a ranking of the 35 Best Master’s in Teaching Degrees for 2017. http://www.collegechoice.net/rankings/best-masters-in-teaching-degrees/

Today our schools employ three million teachers and rely on 27,000 programs in 2,000 separate institutions for training teachers. The demands on teachers are growing, and the need for highly-skilled and qualified teachers is growing along with it. In hopes to effectively train more teachers in response to the growing need, our colleges and universities are striving to meet the challenge. Many schools are strengthening student teaching, that is the mentor, supervisor, and teacher/candidate’s relationship in the training process because studies show it is perhaps the most vital component.

“Future schoolteachers want to learn the best educational practices possible,” Christian Amondson, Managing Editor of College Choice, said of the ranking. “But they also want to be sure that their education will prepare them to get a job straight out of school, and get one that will pay enough so they don’t remain mired in debt. That’s why our ranking takes account not only of the academic quality of an institution and its elementary education program, but also of tuition cost versus how much a new teacher can expect to earn.”

College Choice developed its list by looking at three different factors: academic quality, return on investment, and program quality. Data was collected from a variety of publicly accessible sites and databases, including U.S. News & World Report, the National Center for Education Statistics, individual college websites, and the National Council for Teacher Quality rankings from 2016.
