Big Ten Network Announce Partnership to Deliver Personal Video Highlights to College Sports Fans
15 Seconds of Fame (15SOF), a breakthrough social media platform, and the Big Ten Network (BTN) today announced a multi-year partnership that will, for the first time in college sports history, deliver fans their TV appearances straight to their mobile device when they attend select BTN-telecasted sporting events.
Starting with the 2017 college football season, Big Ten fans simply download the 15SOF app and upload a “selfie” to receive their personal TV “moments” on their smartphone when they appear on the Big Ten Network. The content – a high resolution digital video clip – can then be shared instantly across users’ social networks. Fans can download the 15SOF app using iTunes or Google Play.
“With some of the most passionate fans in all of sports, the Big Ten is the perfect audience for 15SOF and BTN to introduce a technology that will change the fan experience and help preserve once-in-a-lifetime memories,” said Brett Joshpe, CEO of 15SOF. “This content, which can be shared with the tap of button, is the ultimate event takeaway for fans and an incredibly valuable vehicle for brands to engage with targeted consumers in a personal way.”
Michael Calderon, Big Ten Network Senior Vice President of Programming and Digital Media, said, “BTN strives to be an innovator, and we aim to deliver the best game-day telecasts and experience to college fans. Our partnership with 15SOF adds a truly unique, first-of-its-kind element in college sports.”
15SOF will ingest BTN telecast feeds and use its groundbreaking proprietary technology to sort, clip and deliver the video directly to fans who download the app and check-in at an event. 15SOF is already bringing personal scoreboard moments to fans at venues around the country through agreements with professional and collegiate teams, and recently announced a deal with MLBAM to ingest and deliver fan moments from all Major League Baseball broadcast feeds.
Founded in 2014, 15SOF’s proprietary technology uses unique algorithms to deliver crowd video and images from any type of camera feed. The technology was first beta-tested live in 2015 at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor for sports and student-athlete graduation. The app then debuted in the NBA last season, including in Cleveland during the 2016 NBA Finals.
