C Spire ready to rescue consumers from set-top box purgatory with revolutionary digital TV streaming service
C Spire is getting ready to turn the cable TV industry on its head later this spring when it launches C Spire TV, a new streaming TV service that eliminates the need for set-top boxes and revolutionizes how customers enjoy their favorite content.
C Spire TV leaves the world of outdated hardware behind and delivers all the features consumers love about cable TV in a convenient and simple app designed to run on today’s most popular streaming devices from Amazon, Apple, and Roku as well as Android and Apple tablets and smartphones.
The service eliminates the need for customers to outfit every TV in their house with a set-top box, saving several hundred dollars a year in rental fees. Because it’s app-based, C Spire TV allows customers to watch their favorite content on any screen in the home.
This app-based flexibility is designed to support the many new ways customers are consuming content, according to Ashley Phillips, general manager of C Spire Home. “It’s about time TV evolved from cable’s ball and chain mentality rooted in a bygone era,” Phillips said.
The new service is integrated with the Amazon Echo voice assistant and a custom C Spire TV Alexa skill so customers can search, discover and even change channels using their voice. “For us, new technology is only as good as its potential to improve the lives of customers. We live in a golden-age of TV content, and thanks to C Spire TV, customers will finally have a platform to do it justice,” Phillips said.
To go along with the shift in how customers can watch TV, C Spire TV is making a paradigm change around when they watch video entertainment, Phillips said. Thanks to the power of the C Spire cloud, most shows, including local broadcasts that aired over the past three days, can be viewed with the Replay TV feature.
Pair that with a powerful cloud DVR service and customers will have an easier time than ever before keeping up with the shows they love, according to Phillips. Which is important because, unlike over-the-top TV providers, C Spire TV makes no compromises on the channels offered. Everything available on a normal TV service will be available to watch through C Spire TV. HD is included at no extra cost.
C Spire TV even leverages machine-learning to understand a customer’s habits and keep their favorite content front-and-center. “Our platform learns your preferences and recommends new shows and movies ideally suited to your tastes and interests,” Phillips added.
Customers can choose to browse content via a traditional guide-view or in an increasingly popular tile-view that organizes content according to popular genres. Phillips said the entire user interface has been painstakingly designed around user-feedback, ensuring C Spire TV will be one of the most intuitive, easy-to-use platforms at launch.
C Spire TV is in the final stages of beta testing and will launch later this spring with availability for customers of C Spire Fiber’s gigabit internet product. For more information about C Spire TV, go to cspire.tv.
